Got a job interview? Then it's time to gear up for it! Get some tips on how to plan and prepare your job interview.

Once you've edited your CV and cover letter, it's time to prepare for the interview. Planning your job interview is crucial because it can help you to cope with the stress involved in the recruiting process and maximize your chances to make a positive impression on your potential employer. So, here are some basic tips that can help you to succeed:

1. Research the company and the position you are applying for

Browse the web to find the latest news on the company, visit their website and read their press releases. Gather information about its activity and projects. If you find nothing, just call them and ask.

2. Plan and prepare the most frequent interview questions

Find clear, simple and logical answers on them. Create and repeat a short introduction about yourself and your career path. Practice in front of a mirror or with a friend. It can be very helpful as it can improve your gesture and body language and adjust your voice volume and tone.

3. Note the company's address and plan your route in advance

Be on time! Equally, there is no need to arrive 30 minutes early. Recruiters are often busy, especially given they are looking for staff to reinforce their team. Arriving 5 minutes before the scheduled time should suffice.

4. Choose a neat and discrete outfit to look professional

Invest in clothes that are tailored to your body and fit you well. 80 % of opinions are usually made in the 20 first seconds, so never underestimate the power of first impressions. Read more on what to wear for an interview.

5.  Follow up

After your interview make sure you take the time to write a follow up e-mail to the recruiter to thank them for their time and further emphasise your interest in the company. If it comes down to you and one other candidate, a well written and thoughtful follow up e-mail could just get you the job.
