Candidate in a SME

Source @Wikipedia

Small and medium size companies are hiring all year round and have the flexibility to be looking for candidates who are willing to start as soon as possible. A great opportunity for young graduates who can settle into a job in just a few days.

September and October are busy months for job seekers. A third of students find their graduate job before finishing their finals. For the other two thirds, no panic: you have several options. Take the time today to think about your future plans and ask yourself if you fancy working in SMEs or corporate giants.
Small firms add up to nearly a half of the UK private sector of employment meaning there are many opportunities and roles which you probably don’t even know about.

Have a look at what it’s like working in a SME offer:

1. Social work environment

Although SMEs are not able to compete with large corporations’ salaries, they spend time working on offering a great environment to work in for their employees. In these types of companies be ready to work in a give-and-take environment, benefit from great socials and work in a very innovative environment.

2. Skyrocket your career!

Startups have an unregulated progression plan enabling you to start as an intern and gradually climb up the ladder. Even though, working in startups can demand a lot of work, it is a perfect opportunity for young graduates looking to progress quickly.

3. Self-fulfillment
In a small business, you can quickly find yourself working side by side with the CEO on you first day. This proximity with the different departments of the company means you will learn fast.

4. Be part of the business
Your work will have a direct impact on the company. For graduates especially, it is important to feel like you are part of the business and that your work helps achieve specific goals.

5. Short recruitment process
SMEs hire all year round and are looking for candidates able to start work as soon as possible as long as they find the ideal candidate who really wants the job.

Our advice: broaden your job search to companies you wouldn’t necessarily think of at the first place. If you’re talented and driven, there is definitely a company seeking for a profile like yours.
