Several studies have been carried out to try to answer a question that a high amount of British people have been asking themselves: which jobs have the highest pay rate? The Office for National Statistics shows an average earning of £26.500. Take a look at the 5 highest paid jobs in the UK:

1. Civil engineer
Top of the pile are civil engineering positions with an average pay of £44.851. The jobs available are jobs related to building bridges, dams, railroads and buildings. The London boom of skyscrapers and huge infrastructure projects like Cross rail and HS2 mean there is a big amount of high-paying civil engineer jobs.

2. Engineer
Engineers come second in the rating of UKs best paid jobs. With an average pay of £42.837, positions linked to aerospace defense, automotive and the construction sector offer good opportunities. This can be explained by the fact that the demand for engineers is higher than the supply.

3. Accounting
Working as an account is one of UK’s most stable jobs. The average pay is around £42.000 and large groups such as KPMG, PwC, Deloitte and EY are hiring thousands of young graduates. A career in accounting gives you the possibility to climb the ladder.

4. Computer science
Developer, systems administrator or IT consultants are recruiting and offer good salaries with an average pay of £41.950. The demand in IT profiles is growing to meet the demand in workforce of technology companies.

5. Economics
Statistician, financial or economist bankers earn an average of £41.144.
