Responsible for the strategic direction of and planning for the Centre for Open Studies ensuring an attractive, high quality, sustainable programme of learning opportunities for the community at large. This will include a range of events to exploit the Universitys academic and cultural strengths and to engage the local community, including visitors.
To undertake and lead high-quality research in subject area, publish in leading international research journals, vigorously pursue research funding opportunities, actively contribute to teaching, and effectively undertake administration as assigned by the Head of School.

To provide academic leadership by conducting internationally leading research, delivering research-led education, and contributing to School administration and management, as required by the Head of School. The post holder will also lead a research agenda in a relevant subject specific area.
To provide outstanding academic leadership by providing a coherent vision for research and postgraduate training and by inspiring the highest standards of research by College and Moredun Research Institute staff.
We would also welcome applications from candidates who could strengthen our strategic link with the Moredun Research Institute which focuses on strategic research providing impact through the development and delivery of vaccines, diagnostic tests and disease control programmes for livestock species.
The appointee will provide world-class leadership in a chosen area of research consistent with the research strategy of the Institute/College. S/he will build an internationally competitive research programme, publishing in high impact research papers, and communicating this work at international meetings/symposia.
