Job overview

The Staff Wellbeing Lead is responsible for delivering accessible, professional, client-centred, staff wellbeing services, interventions, and programmes to meet the needs of the workforce. The role supports individuals, teams, and the organisation through expert advice, partnering, in relation to culture & health behaviours, individual & team support, and organisational change. They will also work with the Health4Work, the wider OD team, and the Staff Health and Wellbeing Group to support delivery of the Staff Wellbeing Strategy.

Main duties of the job

The Staff Wellbeing Lead designs, delivers, leads, and evaluates staff wellbeing solutions, initiatives, and services that deliver sustainable health improvements and behaviour change in individuals, teams, and organisational structures. They work closely with wider HR colleagues, Internal Communications, and other Staff Wellbeing Leads across the system to design and deliver effective services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Develops and delivers an accessible, professional and responsive Staff Wellbeing Service to the Trust that promotes healthy living, behaviour change and engagement.
2. Ensures Staff Wellbeing Services meets individual, team and organisational needs, using key performance indicators to regularly evaluate impact, and role modelling innovative and forward-thinking practices
3. Identifies, diagnoses, and designs plans to address identified staff wellbeing needs, adopting an approach that is evidence-based and pragmatic
4. Identifies and applies relevant tools and approaches to staff wellbeing practice, and regularly provides analysis and recommendations to stakeholders

5. Works closely with all HR colleagues to provide expert staff wellbeing knowledge and advice, and consistent, joined-up approaches are implemented to support services, increase employee engagement, and improve overall staff experience within HHFT.
6. Proposes and support policy, process, or service changes in line with strategic priorities to ensure values, behaviours, and improvement methodologies are embedded and supported.
7. Designs, delivers, and evaluates learning and development interventions, including facilitation of workshops, and/or team development
8. Provide support, advice and guidance to managers and teams on how to successfully support behaviour change through wellbeing conversation, improve awareness and access to services, and enable increased employee engagement.
9. Use assessment, development and feedback to support personal, team and organisational health developments as required.
10. Manages and prioritises own portfolio of work to meet required deadlines and objectives
11. Regularly creates reports and papers for senior Trust boards and committees and maintains information and records in relation to staff wellbeing interventions.
12. Proactively builds relationships across the organisation to continually develop understanding of organisational context and challenges, and ensures the work of staff wellbeing is supported and recognised by others.

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

14. Experience delivering staff wellbeing strategies in a large, multi-disciplinary organisation
15. Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring a variety of staff wellbeing projects and interventions
16. Track record of influencing at mid and senior levels of the organisation
17. Experience of evaluating and reporting in line with key performance indicators
18. • Experience designing and delivering training and development for individuals and groups of staff

Desirable criteria

19. Coaching and facilitation experience
20. Developing policies and procedures
21. Demonstrable understanding of the NHS
22. Specialist knowledge of evaluation methodologies
23. Budget management experience

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

24. Degree level education, or equivalent knowledge and experience
25. Evidence of continued learning in the staff wellbeing field
26. Specialist training or knowledge of project/programme management or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

27. Staff Wellbeing qualification or similar
28. Coaching, counselling or facilitation training or qualification

Skills and Ability

Essential criteria

29. Able to effectively engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels, both virtually and in person
30. Able to influence and negotiate with others on complex and sensitive issues
31. Formulating and adjusting strategies and plans in line with organisational developments
32. Can work autonomously and with own initiative
33. Sound understanding of issues regarding equality, diversity, inclusion, race and privilege
34. Problem solving ability, seeking out and exploiting opportunities and innovations
35. Able to manage and interpret data – including large and complex quantitative and qualitative information
