Job Description
Wood is recruiting for a Construction Manager to oversee total construction field effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, specifications, budgets and schedules. Generally responsible for projects or subsets of a project with values up to $50M. Construction Management assures the quality and integrity of each project, bringing projects in on schedule and within budget. Using in‑house construction management procedures and experience, the role provides continuity and consistency of construction management with quality assurance and reliable control.

Responsibilities
* Responsible for in‑field construction including contractor activities
* Supervises all areas of in‑field projects, modifications and asset support
* Manages and executes multiple field disciplines or a subset of assigned construction projects in accordance with contract requirements and company policies
* Executes work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project
* Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned disciplines on site
* Manages installation, commissioning and completion activities of materials and equipment
* Coordinates field personnel schedules to maximise utilisation and ensure work is delivered on schedule
* Monitors work progress and reports against the plan
* Ensures safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities are defined and communicated to workers within control areas
* Ensures all workers receive appropriate training to perform their work safely, legally and competently, including inductions
* Initiates safety, quality and environmental processes within control areas, including toolbox meetings, inspections and the identification, assessment and control of risks in line with Wood and client requirements
* Captures variations effectively using commercial processes
* Coordinates supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project‑specific requirements in accordance with client and Wood policies
* Understands and manages the industrial relations environment impacting the site and reports any issues as required
* Works with engineering in design phases to influence design for optimum constructability
Qualifications & Experience
Typically a minimum qualification to ISCED Level 5 (technical diploma or apprenticeship) or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
* Appropriate level of field construction experience, usually acquired through a minimum of 10 years post‑qualification experience in a relevant industry
* Well organised, observant, with good interpersonal and communication skills
* Displays good judgment and leadership qualities
* Able to work with timelines and targets
* Assertive and able to drive culture change when required
* Excellent interpersonal, organisational, communication and team‑building skills
