Construction Design Management & Safety Manager
Location: Newcastle, England, United Kingdom
AXA UK is looking for a Construction Design Management & Safety Manager to safeguard our operations and stakeholders. In this role you will design and implement robust processes aligned with CDM and health & safety legislation, ensuring compliance across our Claims Operations Teams and partner functions. Your expertise will shape our policies, support high‑value building claims, and represent AXA in industry forums while maintaining our commitment to safety and regulatory excellence.
What you’ll be doing
* Design and document relevant requirements and processes of CDM and Health & Safety legislation for our internal Claims Operations Teams and supplier functions.
* Develop and enhance the control framework for Building Claims compliance with Construction Design Management.
* Set up and conduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement in relation to CDM and Health & Safety Regulations.
* Design, implement and test control processes that ensure AXA meets its legislative and regulatory obligations.
* Provide technical support and training to the internal Surveying Team, Claims handling teams, and external suppliers as appropriate.
* Lead complaint and dispute resolution, investigate sites, report findings and make recommendations.
* Support the structural aspects of high‑value and complex building claims, particularly in direct building repair networks.
What you’ll bring
* Chartered Membership of IOSH (essential).
* Site Manager Safety Training Scheme and Asbestos Awareness Qualification (highly beneficial).
* Previous construction and CDM experience with demonstrable expertise.
* Knowledge and understanding of building challenges, including contractor contract variations.
* Experience managing and auditing suppliers and contractors (essential).
* Highly organised, detail‑oriented and creative problem‑solving approach.
* Exposure to the insurance industry (highly beneficial).
* Confidence in communicating findings to stakeholders.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
