A leading energy organisation is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated student to join its Instrumentation & Control (I&C) team for a 12-month industrial placement. This is a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience within one of the UK’s most significant energy infrastructure projects, contributing directly to the country’s journey toward a low-carbon future.
About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will be based in the company’s Bristol office, supporting the delivery of complex Instrumentation & Control systems for a major nuclear energy project. Working alongside seasoned engineers and project professionals, the placement offers exposure to project coordination, supplier engagement, risk management, and quality assurance activities.
This role is designed to give students a genuine insight into how large-scale energy systems are managed and developed, helping them to build valuable technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills that will strengthen their future career prospects.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in developing and maintaining project plans, schedules, and documentation.
* Support project meetings, risk assessments, and progress reviews.
* Contribute to the identification and mitigation of potential project risks.
* Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
* Take part in process improvement initiatives, data tracking, and reporting.
Previous placement students have worked on supplier management tools, document reviews, factory inspections, and performance tracking, gaining direct experience in applying their academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should be studying towards, or have recently completed, a degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Software, Electrical Engineering, or Physics, with a predicted or achieved grade of 2:2 or higher.
The client is looking for individuals who are proactive, curious, and eager to learn within a highly technical environment. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team are essential.
