Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard).
About the role:
A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) as night-working BMS in our Biochemistry Department based at Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) following implementation of a new Pathology and Phlebotomy services programme commissioned by the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board with services which commenced on 1st March 2025. This post offers the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a busy Blood Sciences Laboratory as well as the chance to work a non-standard shift pattern which will be of benefit to those seeking a better work/life balance. Permanent night workers will receive an additional uplift to their pay commensurate with working the balance of their hours during unsocial hours.
The laboratory at PAH provides 24/7 Biochemistry testing for acute and urgent care areas of the hospital as well as some onsite testing for the local community. The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high-quality pathology service.
The ideal candidate will be committed to service excellence and have a genuine desire for continued personal and professional development. Candidates should have a suitable approved undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science (or equivalent) and be registered with the HCPC.
Previous hospital laboratory experience would be helpful, however full training will be provided for all work performed.
The laboratory operates a 24/7 service so the successful candidate will be expected to participate in all shifts required to cover this timeframe; for staff recruited into permanent night shifts there will be an expectation that there will be some rotation into day shift required to undertake periodic update training.
