Position Description
ERT is seeking a Deputy Program Manager (DPM) to support upcoming work at NOAA to help manage critical IT systems for weather data. Duties include:
1. Program Management and Leadership: Assist the Program Manager in leading day-to-day operations, ensuring projects are executed on time, within scope, and on budget. Oversee resource and personnel allocation to meet objectives. Identify and mitigate risks to maintain service continuity. Ensure compliance with contract terms and performance requirements.
2. Stakeholder and Client Engagement: Serve as liaison between the customer, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication. Collaborate with federal agencies and project leads to understand needs, develop solutions, and report progress. Facilitate meetings and updates for leadership and partners.
3. Team and Operations Oversight: Support, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams. Monitor performance, provide coaching, and ensure quality. Drive operational excellence through process improvements.
4. Project Management and Reporting: Track project schedules, budgets, and milestones. Prepare reports on program status and performance. Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure quality and timeliness.
5. Contract Administration and Compliance: Support contract modifications, task orders, and proposals. Ensure activities meet regulations and contractual obligations.
Required Skills
* 8+ years in program or project management, preferably with NOAA, NASA, or similar federal agencies.
* Experience managing a data lake for mission-critical government IT systems.
* Strong leadership, program management, and technical skills for leading multidisciplinary teams.
* Proven experience managing large, complex projects.
* Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
* Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
* Outstanding communication skills for client engagement and reporting.
* Familiarity with budgeting, resource management, and risk strategies.
* Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and able to pass a background check for a Public Trust clearance.
Additional Preferred Experience:
* Experience with federal government contracts, especially NASA or scientific organizations.
* Knowledge of scientific data management or Earth observation science.
* Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
Education
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Location
Supports work in Silver Spring, MD with onsite or hybrid options.
Compensation
$122,000 - $276,000/year, based on experience and duties.
