Project Engineer / Construction Site Manager – Solar EPC
Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
A boutique and growing solar EPC is seeking a versatile and hands‑on professional to support both project development engineering and construction site management across small‑scale solar projects ranging from 0–5MW. This is a blended role suited to someone who enjoys working across office‑based engineering tasks and active field delivery, with a strong focus on execution, coordination, and leadership on site.
The successful candidate will support projects from early design and development through construction, commissioning, and handover. This role requires someone who is comfortable spending time in the field, managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring that project work is delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Support electrical design and project development engineering for 0–5MW solar PV projects.
* Prepare and review technical drawings, one‑line diagrams, site layouts, and related design documents.
* Assist with project planning, scope development, and construction readiness.
* Spend substantial time in the field overseeing active construction sites.
* Act as site lead, coordinating crews, subcontractors, and day‑to‑day construction activity.
* Monitor progress, quality, safety, and schedule performance on site.
* Troubleshoot field issues and support technical problem solving during installation.
* Liaise between office‑based engineering, development, and field teams to keep projects moving.
* Support commissioning, closeout, and punch list activities.
* Maintain accurate documentation, progress updates, and project records.
Skillset
* Experience in solar EPC, project development engineering, construction management, or a related electrical field.
* Strong understanding of solar PV project delivery, ideally on projects up to 5MW.
* Comfortable balancing design work with site‑based responsibilities.
* Hands‑on, proactive, and able to lead from the front in the field.
* Strong communication and coordination skills.
* Ability to work independently and take ownership of project delivery.
* Electrical background preferred.
* Experience managing crews or subcontractors is highly beneficial.
Preferred Experience
* Solar PV design or construction experience.
* Exposure to project development, engineering, and field execution.
* Understanding of electrical construction practices and site coordination.
* Familiarity with permitting, commissioning, and project closeout.
Location Requirement: This role must be based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will involve regular fieldwork.
