Positive Employment is currently recruiting for Carpenters for our client, a local government organisation based in Bristol.
Our client is in the process of expanding its in-house fire door inspection and remedial works team to maintain compliance with “Building Fire Safety” and is looking for additional self-motivated and diligent individuals to join the team.
Suitable candidates will ideally have a trade carpentry background; however, candidates from other trade/technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the team 1 roles that cover the inspection element only. Qualified carpenters will be required for team 2.
Subject to skills and experience, the team will cover two areas:
Team 1 Fire Door Inspection only:
1. Following training that will establish and award “competency” on the “TRADA” Fire door inspection process, the team will complete fire door inspections, tagging doors with “QR” codes for identification purposes, and recording the inspections and compliance outcome specifying any remedial works within our compliance app to ensure they link with the installation and maintenance data to meet our building safety compliance and TRADA audit requirements.
2. Candidates will be required to have access to a suitable vehicle to be able to move between the various sites. A mileage rate will be paid at the appropriate rate.
Team 2 Fire Door Inspection and completion of remedial actions:
1. In addition to the training and requirements outlined within team 1, candidates appointed to team 2 will also carry out remedial works, such as easing and adjusting doors, fitting intumescent strips, renewing hinges, installation of new door linings, or complete renewal of door sets. Following the completion of the fire risk assessments and specified works, update the app and systems, ensuring BCC is compliant with fire safety regulations.
2. Candidates will have the use of a BCC commercial vehicle.
Additional information:
1. Door sets already tagged will require a basic 13-point inspection carried out, and the findings added to a short form on the Fire Door Manager app. Two photos need to be taken (inside and outside of each door) and uploaded along with a list of any remediation works for any faults identified.
2. The requirement is for fire doors to be inspected by a competent person and sets out that front entrance doors are inspected at least annually and that communal doors are inspected on a quarterly basis.
This is a 6-month starting contract with the possibility to extend.
Working Hours: 08:00am - 16:30pm, Monday - Friday
Pay: £23.00 p/h
Please note this role is within the scope of IR35.
