As an SEMH TA, this is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students facing emotional or behavioural challenges. Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant: Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs, helping them stay engaged in their learning. Support students’ emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies. Foster a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for learning. Collaborate with SENCOs, teachers, therapists, and families to implement personalised support plans. Safely transport pupils as needed — therefore, a full UK driving licence with business insurance is essential. Promote inclusion, independence, and a positive attitude towards education. Requirements for SEMH Teaching Assistant: Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs. Full UK driving licence and business insurance (essential for travel to different provisions or home-school transport). Excellent communication, patience, and relationship-building skills. Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour support strategies. Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
