About the Role
Head Resourcing are pleased to be working with a global manufacturer headquartered in Scotland as they look to hire a Platform Services Engineer. Our client is a long-established, family-owned business with global operations producing a wide range of high-quality products.
The Platform Services Engineer is a 3rd line position within the client’s IT structure and is responsible for deploying, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining the infrastructure, hardware, and software in the client’s global infrastructure estate. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be willing to travel to the client’s other sites on an ad‑hoc basis.
Responsibilities
The Platform Services Engineer will:
* Deploy, configure, monitor and maintain infrastructure, hardware and software across the client’s global estate.
* Manage large‑scale Windows Server and Active Directory environments, leveraging Azure, Entra ID and Intune for identity and access.
* Ensure robust networking, including LAN/WAN, VLANs, SD‑WAN, SWAN, and Cisco Meraki.
* Sustain virtualisation environments (VMware/Hyper‑V) and implement backup and DR strategies.
* Diagnose and resolve complex incidents under pressure, working collaboratively with the wider IT department.
Required Skills
* Extensive experience as an Infrastructure / Platform engineer – working up to 3rd line level.
* Strong Azure knowledge and experience managing large‑scale Windows Server and Active Directory.
* Skilled in Entra ID, and Intune for managing identity and access.
* Solid networking understanding including LAN/WAN, VLANs, SD‑WAN, SWAN, and operational experience with Cisco Meraki.
* Experience with virtualisation (VMware / Hyper‑V) and backup and DR strategies.
* Demonstrable capability to troubleshoot complex incidents, working under pressure, and as part of a team and wider IT department.
