Our defence sector client is currently recruiting for an SC cleared Safety Engineer/Safety Manager for a contract role starting ASAP until the end of March 2026. The contract offers a hybrid working arrangement of 2-3 days onsite in Bristol and the remainder working from home. The role offers a day rate of between £475 and £500 per day (Inside IR35). The deadline for applications is 12pm on Tuesday 22nd July 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support the development and maintenance of policy and process to satisfy the corporate standards for Acquisition Safety.
* Develop, manage, and maintain effective Safety Management Systems. Identify and analyze hazards and contribute to the identification and evaluation of risk reduction measures, ensuring these are adequately documented and managed.
* Work with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance with relevant UK and EU legislation and regulations, MOD regulations, and Policy.
* Develop and maintain project safety assurance plans, monitor compliance, and ensure safety assurance evidence is gathered and assessed for safety case preparation.
* Produce, review, endorse, and recommend acceptance of safety artefacts.
* Oversee the management of contractual aspects to ensure safety requirements are captured and manage contractors who perform safety activities.
* Provide informed safety advice to decision makers through Project Safety Panels.
EXPERIENCE
* Chartered or Incorporated Engineering professional affiliation or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
* Practitioner status in System Safety practices.
* Member of a relevant Professional Safety Institute or equivalent body.
* Extensive experience in the use of ASEMS and System Safety Management Tools & Processes.
* Substantial experience in a system safety role and developing a Safety Management System.
* Knowledge acquired through recognised System Safety courses with benchmarked examination.
* A minimum of Level 4 NQF in a relevant engineering discipline.
