Our client is a highly respected, long-established real estate development and property management company currently experiencing a period of significant growth and transformation. The business manages a complex group structure of 28+ entities, including operational and development companies, with intricate intercompany transactions and a rapidly scaling portfolio.
This is a pivotal opportunity for an accomplished Head of Financial Control to join the executive leadership team, drive process optimisation, and ensure robust financial governance as the organisation enters its next phase of expansion.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and Oversee Financial Operations:
Direct all aspects of financial management, including policy enforcement, risk management, and ensuring the accuracy of statutory and management reporting across the group.
Manage and develop the finance team, upholding high standards for financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
* Strategic Financial Management:
Oversee loan drawdowns, large payment authorisations, and company benefits (pension, health insurance, HR), ensuring compliance with UK regulatory and tax requirements.
* Fund & Entity Management:
Develop and implement structured systems for fund setup (including UK equivalent structures such as Property Authorised Investment Funds and Real Estate Investment Trusts), ensuring compliance and optimal fund allocation.
* Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with external fund administrators and advisors (e.g., IQ-EQ or UK equivalents) to manage fund requirements and regulatory adherence.
* Governance & Compliance:
Ensure all corporate structures and investments align with company strategy and investor mandates, maintaining a robust internal controls environment.
* Executive Partnership:
Work closely with the Board and Executive Leadership Team to align financial policies with business objectives and provide timely, insightful reporting for strategic decision-making.
* Process Improvement:
Drive the enhancement of financial transparency, systems, and reporting to support group-wide initiatives and future growth.
Candidate Profile
* Education & Professional Qualifications:
o ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* Experience:
o Minimum 7 years’ senior finance leadership experience within construction, property development, private equity, or multi-entity environments
o Demonstrable experience managing complex group structures and intercompany transactions
o Strong knowledge of UK financial reporting standards (FRS 102/IFRS), fund compliance, and regulatory frameworks
* Technical Skills:
o Advanced user of Excel and experience with leading accounting/ERP systems (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Gravity, Expensify)
o Proven ability to implement and optimise financial processes and controls
