LD Specialty Doctor Forensic

We have exciting opportunities due to re-advertised vacancies in Black Country Health Care Foundation Trust to be part of a vibrant and responsive Forensic Community LD Team (the FCT). The post is well supported by experienced LD MDT and by a Consultant Psychiatrist.
The post will cover community assessment, treatment and psychiatric care for adults with psychiatric conditions referred to the FCT. There is a middle grade on call rota for LD patients in which the post holder will be expected to participate. You will be clinically responsible for patients under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist. You will be part of an established MDT that includes Psychologists, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and support staff.
Main duties of the job
Provide and support specialist psychiatric services to adults (over 18) with learning disabilities and psychiatric conditions, to help safeguard the wellbeing of vulnerable adult people with learning disabilities, to comply with confidentiality policies and to record activity accurately, contemporaneously and comprehensively.
Assess and treat patients with a mental illness and behavioural disorders in different settings (out-patient clinics, community settings and in Hospital) in line with NICE guidance, best practice and Trust policies under the supervision of Consultant psychiatrist.
Work closely with Multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care and provide psychiatric care within the team.
Support the care of patients by developing strong partnership with other agencies and services, including education, social care, primary care, probation, Ministry of Justice, diversion and voluntary agencies.
Contribute to clinical governance activities within the Trust wide Learning Disabilities Division, including participating in Audits, teaching and service improvement projects.

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist mental health, learning disability, and community healthcare services for the population of the Black Country locality in the West Midlands. The trust was formed on 1 April 2020. This was after NHS England and NHS Improvement approved the merger of Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
The Learning Disabilities services are organised under LD Directorate and provide services across Black Country boroughs of Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell as well as the City of Wolverhampton through four LD community teams. There is mix of both district wide and locality based services. Specialist inpatient LD services are provided at Hallam and Heath Lane Hospital sites.
