AVEVA is creating software trusted by over 90% of leading industrial companies.
Job Title: VP of AI Engineering & Platform Development
Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid)
Type: Full-Time
About the Role
AVEVA is building the next generation of AI-powered industrial intelligence solutions—and we need a hands-on technology leader to make it happen. As VP of AI Engineering & Platform Development, you will architect and deliver secure, scalable, and reliable AI services that form the foundation of our global Industrial Intelligence Platform.
This is not a purely strategic role—you will roll up your sleeves, lead execution, and guide engineering teams to build distributed, cloud-native services and APIs that democratize access to AI capabilities across AVEVA’s product portfolio and partner ecosystem.
If you thrive in startup-like environments, love building from the ground up, and have deep experience in AI and cloud platforms, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Services Development
1. Design and deliver Core AI Services (orchestration, SDKs, APIs) that are scalable, reusable, secure, and highly available.
2. Ensure services follow best practices for validation, continuous delivery, and disaster recovery.
3. Build extensible services that support a federated contribution model to accelerate scalability across AVEVA.
Democratization & Adoption
4. Drive adoption and reuse of AI services across AVEVA product teams and partners.
5. Enable self-service access, reference implementations, and integration toolkits to lower barriers to entry.
6. Collaborate with execution leaders and enablement teams to accelerate AI adoption.
7. Embed security and privacy-by-design into all services and APIs.
8. Ensure compliance with global AI regulations and emerging governance frameworks.
9. Implement processes for responsible AI, including model explainability, observability, and auditability
AI & Cloud Expertise
10. Provide strong execution leadership in AI and cloud-native software development.
11. Guide the use of modern AI frameworks, data pipelines, inference engines, and orchestration platforms.
12. Partner with Product Managers and Architects to translate industrial AI use cases into platform capabilities.
Team Leadership & Culture
13. Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team with a strong culture of excellence.
14. Foster a builder mindset—encouraging rapid prototyping and continuous improvement with startup agility.
15. Drive collaboration across geographies, time zones, and technical disciplines.
Qualifications:
16. 15+ years in software product development, with 8+ years in leadership roles focused on cloud-native platforms or AI services.
17. Hands-on technical leadership experience in building distributed AI/cloud services.
18. Proven experience with distributed, secure, and scalable AI/cloud services
19. Hands-on expertise in AI/ML technologies and API lifecycle management.
20. Startup or pre-IPO experience strongly preferred.
Desired Skills:
21. Familiarity with AI standards (Model Context Protocol, Agent2Agent).
22. Understanding of global AI regulations (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF) and responsible AI principles.
23. Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
