An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Inpatient Mental Health Service for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the AHP Adult Acute Inpatient team in Sandwell within Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an ideal post for a newly qualified or experienced Occupational Therapist. This post will be based at Hallam Street Hospital. You will work closely with the three inpatient wards, but you will not be part of the numbers on the wards.

Main duties of the job
* The successful candidate will implement evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist interventions in addition to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy Services.
* Participate in therapy hub group program utilizing a range of psychoeducational interventions, such as anxiety management, distress tolerance and recovery focused groups that will feed into recovery focused care planning as well as be assigned to an adult ward on site to provide assessment and intervention.
* The successful applicant will need to be an enthusiastic and committed individual who will be part of a wider team, including other Occupational Therapists and members of an Multi-Disciplinary Team within the Inpatient Therapy Hub.
* The candidate will need to be flexible in service provision/cross site cover on different wards when required and support the team pan trust.
* The post holder will have responsibility for a caseload of clients including those with complex needs and will need to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment interventions to adults within a hospital setting.
* Applicants must be able to demonstrate robust OT clinical skills and knowledge of working mental health settings.

Job responsibilities
* To work within the AHP Team which includes the Inpatient Therapy Hub to deliver Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to patients residing on all acute wards based primarily in Hallam Street Hospital, however at times of clinical need you may be asked to support pan trust in one of our other sites (Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton).
* To develop and deliver a varied programme of OT, psychotherapeutic, psychosocial therapeutic groups and individual activities designed to meet the identified needs of service according to the principles of Recovery; and to assist in skills teaching and programming to empower patients to self-manage their own illnesses.
* To support and contribute to the development of a therapeutic day in the context of the Therapy Hub, and into your assigned adult acute ward.
* To contribute to discharge planning for individuals by undertaking home visits, phased discharge, visits and producing reports which indicate the need for the level of community care package provision.
