Role Summary
The IT Administrator will join our Technical Operations team located in Cambridge to oversee day‑to‑day IT administration across Microsoft 365 and Windows environments, manage user support, coordinate with external suppliers, conduct IT audits, and produce clear documentation. The role offers a salary between £26,250 and £32,000 per annum, with flexible and hybrid working options.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day IT administration and support across on‑premise and cloud‑based systems.
* Manage user accounts, access permissions and devices to ensure secure and efficient collaboration.
* Set up, issue and maintain laptops and peripherals, overseeing the full equipment lifecycle.
* Coordinate with external suppliers and managed service providers to resolve issues and deliver IT services.
* Respond to routine and complex IT requests, collaborating with senior colleagues to find solutions.
* Support colleagues across multiple offices, including occasional on‑site tasks and office moves.
* Carry out regular IT audits and housekeeping activities such as access reviews and asset checks.
* Contribute to IT projects and system improvements, researching, testing, and implementing new tools.
* Create clear IT documentation, user guides and knowledge articles to promote self‑service.
* Deliver user communications, guidance and informal training to support system changes.
* Identify opportunities to improve IT services and processes, contributing ideas to enhance the user experience.

Qualifications – Essential
* At least 1 year of experience in an IT‑related role, a relevant bachelor’s degree, or an entry‑level industry qualification (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL).
* Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* Experience supporting or administering IT systems in a professional environment.
* Strong customer‑service mindset, supporting users in a clear and friendly manner.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
* Proactive, solution‑focused problem‑solving approach.
* Strong organisational skills, able to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
* High attention to detail, especially when handling systems and confidential information.
* Collaborative working style with a willingness to share knowledge and support team goals.
* Motivation to learn, develop technical skills and take ownership of professional growth.
Qualifications – Desired
* Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune and Defender for Endpoint.
* Experience with MacOS, HaloITSM, Power Automate, PowerShell, Bash and other scripting languages.
* Experience administering IT hardware, including procurement, configuration, returns, disposal and asset database maintenance.
* Experience developing IT knowledge articles and processes.
