Over the years, this role has evolved significantly, growing in both scope and influence. With access to richer insights than ever before, this role is an exciting opportunity to analyse claims trends, drive performance improvements, control indemnity spend, and enhance claims processes in line with best practice, legal, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with senior technical experts, regional claims teams, and external suppliers - including our legal panel and Verisk - you’ll lead performance calls, identify areas for improvement, and support key initiatives that improve consistency and efficiency. You’ll also play an important role in knowledge management, keeping claims handling guidance up to date, developing training materials, and ensuring teams have the right resources to make informed decisions. You can be based near our offices in York, Bristol, Belfast, or the Head Office in Tiddington, near Stratford-upon-Avon, with no formal requirement to work from Head Office. However, you should be comfortable travelling to Head Office and other Regional Service Centres occasionally for key meetings, collaboration sessions, and team away days - typically 4–5 times per year. **This role is internally known as Best Practice Specialist (Injury).**## About youWith a strong background in handling injury claims, you’ll bring extensive technical expertise across motor and/or casualty claims (EL/PL). You’ll be comfortable working with performance data, engaging with a variety of stakeholders, and driving improvements in claims handling. To succeed in this role, you’ll need: * Extensive technical expertise in injury claims – Proven experience managing injury claims up to £150k across motor and/or casualty (EL/PL). * Confidence in coaching and providing technical referrals – Experience acting as a key point of contact for technical queries, supporting quality assurance and helping to upskill colleagues. * Strong data analysis skills – The ability to interpret and present claims performance data, using insights to improve indemnity spend, litigation control, and operational efficiency. * Excellent stakeholder management – Experience engaging with a variety of stakeholders and building lasting working relationships. * A collaborative and innovative approach – Comfortable working across different teams, regions, and other lines of business to refine best practices and enhance claims processes. * A commercial mindset and continuous improvement focus – A proactive approach to identifying efficiency improvements, ensuring injury claims handling aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements. *At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique.
