Health Care Assistant - Oldham Integrated Child and Family Service
Job Summary
As a Health Care Assistant you will assist the Health Care Practitioner to carry out routine health related activities and complete personal care and activities of daily living ensuring patient‑led focused care. You will record patient information and provide clinical support as required to help ensure the efficient and effective running of the work area, including delegated tasks such as recording physiological observations. You will provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
Main Duties
* Establish and maintain communication with patients, relatives and carers and the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care.
* Develop own skills and knowledge and provide information to others to help their development.
* Ensure own actions help to maintain quality.
* Assist in assessing people's health and wellbeing and related needs.
* Assist in planning, delivering, and evaluating programmes to meet people's health and wellbeing needs.
* Assist in the use of technology for measurement, monitoring, and treatment.
* Work flexibly during unsociable hours to meet service demands.
* Provide health promotion interventions as delegated by public health nurses, primarily in community locations, nursery or schools.
* Lead group work with school‑aged children and support the delivery of health promotion in schools and other community locations.
* Undertake the delivery of the national child measurement programme (NCMP) in named schools under the direction of the public health nurse.
Location – Alexandra Family Hub, Wildmore Avenue, Oldham, OL4 5PU
Contract – Permanent, Part‑time/Flexible, Job share
Salary – £24,937 to £26,598 a year pro rata
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship – or equivalent experience
* Care Certificate
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade Displayed as D‑G)
Essential Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a health or social care setting
* Experience working within a team
Desirable
* Interest or previous experience supporting other health care staff and learners
* Commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
Essential Skills & Abilities
* Good communication (written and verbal skills)
* Basic IT skills
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
Desirable Skills
* Full UK driving licence with willingness to use own car for work purposes
