Main duties of the job
You will have practical experience of implementing personcentred care and have effective communication and problem solving skills. You will be able to work calmly under pressure and have a strong commitment to respecting the rights of the services users at all times. Experience in a senior carer post is desirable however the successive candidates will receive appropriate training.
You will be flexible to meet the needs of the service and be able to meet the requirements of the shift pattern which includes a combination of long days, ear lies, lates and rotation onto nightshift. The roster covers 7 days of the week, 24 hours per day. Full time, part time and flexible working is available. Any training and developmental learning needs will be encouraged and supported.

Job responsibilities

As a Senior Care Advocate, the post holder will provide supervision to the careadvocates within the service, promoting a supportive environment for serviceusers through high standards of care that will be conducive to the needs of theindividuals, their carers and families.
The post holder will ensure that each service user receives care appropriate to their individual needs and implement and exceed the requirements of the standards agreed, legislative requirements, and relevant regulations and in line with accepted best practices and company Policies.

Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* Experience in the care of older people and leading a team of staff.
* Demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to lead by example, motivate and empower others.
* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (including via IT).
* Ability to work collaboratively with all relevant services, teams and agencies to safeguard and protect the welfare of people who use services.
* Ability to promote positive physical, mental health and wellbeing.
* Up to date, demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation within adult health and social care.
* Experience in the safe handling of medication.
* Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance.
* Evidence of continuous development.
* Experience of supporting new service developments.
* Administration of medications certificate.
Skills, Knowledge & Attributes
* Caring and compassionate towards people in need of care and support.
* Commitment to respecting the rights of residents at all times and to promoting their privacy, dignity and independence throughout their lives.
* Recent experience in Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults.
* Able to remain calm in challenging situations and under pressure.
* Significant experience of person centred planning, evaluation and delivery.
* Experience of working with people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
* Experience of working with functional / organic mental health problems.
* Experience of therapeutic working.
