Software Engineer II - Test Automation Engineer
Job Description

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Bank - Markets Technology Team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job responsibilities
* Develop a strong understanding of the business process and system workflow.
* Analyze and understand the existing automation framework.
* Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts for web and API applications using Kotlin, Java, Cucumber, Selenium as per functional requirements.
* Partner with business and technology teams to enhance automated testing capabilities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
* Understand the importance of the SDLC process; work to an agreed release schedule with high-quality delivery.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation scripts, frameworks, and processes.
* Collaborate closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Product teams to identify and address bugs and inconsistencies in software.
* Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Review and evaluate manual user acceptance tests and work across the team to provide automated solutions.
* Carry out functional and regression testing.
* Actively participate and contribute in agile ceremonies.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and expanding applied experience.
* Strong functional and automation testing skills in both UI and API-based applications.
* Practical experience in Test Automation using Kotlin/Java, Selenium, BDD, Gherkin, JUnit, Spring.
* Experience with databases such as Oracle SQL.
* Expertise in designing and building BDD/Cucumber Test Automation Frameworks.
* Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines and maintain them.
* Good exposure to tools like IntelliJ/Eclipse, Jenkins, Maven, BitBucket/Git.
* Experience in Agile methodology with test planning, test case creation, execution, and defect tracking.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, documentation, organization, and collaboration skills to work effectively in a multi-team environment.
* Experience with high-pressure, time-critical environments within Agile frameworks.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Financial industry knowledge.
* Good knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
* Knowledge of Java 17 onwards is an added advantage.
* Familiarity with messaging queues is preferable.
* Basic knowledge of Unix commands and usage of Splunk.
* Exposure to Python.
* AWS Practitioner Certification.
