Property Risk are looking for a Risk Analyst to join their Valuations Quality Assurance Team. The successful candidate would be responsible, alongside their Team Members, for carrying out Quality Checks of mortgage valuation reports and supporting evidence received for both Nationwide and TMW (The Mortgage Works) Customers and working with Valuation firms to address any quality issues.

The role is situated within Property Risk, who are responsible for everything property related, starting from the Mortgage Application process all the way to post-completion. The Valuations Quality Assurance Team are responsible for ensuring that mortgage valuation reports from both external Valuation firms and Staff Valuers are accurate, of high quality and comply with our Lender Guidance. This ensures that we take the right properties into mortgage and that they have been valued correctly.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our Bournemouth office. What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for checking that Valuers have correctly interpreted and adhered to our Lender Requirements and supported their Valuations with robust comparable evidence. This will include selecting cases to Quality Check, assessing them against various guidance documents and our “Quality Matrix”, taking appropriate action to rectify errors and feeding back the results to Valuer firms, in order to drive continuous improvement.

You’ll also be involved in the production of management information for the QA Team along with providing quality checks for other functions including Collections and Recoveries and New Build Site Appraisals. You will work closely with other teams within Property Risk, other Business Stakeholders within NBS and TMW, as well as with the Panel Valuation Firms.

You will need to be methodical, with excellent attention to detail, able to assess cases against pre-determined parameters, but with a questioning mind and ability to make your own well-reasoned and expressed judgement calls. You’ll also have good understanding of our risk appetite and contribute towards continuous improvement of the QA function.


About you

As a minimum requirement you’ll have or be;

* Previous experience in the residential property and / or financial industry
* A proven track record in a role which requires checking compliance against pre-determined policies
* Proven risk-based decision-making abilities both at case specific and a more holistic level
* Able to comprehend, assimilate and apply technical information rapidly
* Confident working autonomously and as part of the team
* Able to plan, manage and prioritise your own workload
* A confident communicator both written and verbally who can build relationships internally and externally
