Teaching Assistant Job Start Date: ASAP Contract end date: 20th July 2026 Salary: TA2 (Points 5 – 6), £19,739.02 - £20,052.27 per annum 32.5 hours per week, 8.30am – 3.30pm, five days a week with 30 minutes unpaid lunch. Age range 2 – 9 years This could be the Teaching Assistant job you have been waiting for! We are looking for someone skilled, keen and eager to work with children, who need a little extra support in the classroom. You should be prepared to work in Key Stage 2, support adapted curriculum needs and using a range of strategies to engage and motivate children. Knowledge of early years would be beneficial as would a background in trauma informed practice and emotion coaching. You will be supported by a wonderful team, working either in the classroom or our Nest nurture provision. We are a two-form entry First School with the most fabulous Nursery taking children from aged 2 years. In assembly, children said they go to ‘the school of kindness!’ With a year of change behind us – phonics, implementing the CUSP curriculum and other schemes such as The Story Project for PHSE, we are ready for a new Teaching Assistant to work with us for one year (with a view to making permanent). We are looking for a Teaching Assistant, who believes that a successful school can dance between an ambitious, progressive curriculum and nurturing humanity, wellness and workload, so that every member of our school community flourishes. We are seeking an ambitious and motivated Teaching Assistant who is determined to give children the very best education and who will inspire our school community, uphold our mission to help every individual and live our values. Essentially, the Teaching Assistant will support Quality First Teaching in the classroom, delivered by the Class Teacher. They will also work with small groups of children and a 1-1 basis to ensure every child thrives. We are seeking someone who: Holds Level 2 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent. Is motivated and skilled to support adapted curriculum needs and using a range of strategies to engage and motivate children. Has knowledge of early years including the value of learning through play and intentional teaching. Has a background in trauma informed practice and emotion coaching or keen and eager to learn quickly. Has experience of supporting individual needs. Has recent experience of working within a school setting and a knowledge of the National Curriculum. Demonstrates a good level of English and Maths, with GCSE qualification graded A-C/5 or above. Has the ability to confidently follow planning and adapt where necessary to support children’s individual needs. Has experience in delivering intervention programmes for groups and individuals. Is a team player, who is committed to their own professional development Has working knowledge of safeguarding practices. Supporting teachers to ensure specific children are making progress. Keeping all children safe. Engaging children in learning opportunities. Managing behaviour effectively. Having high standards and expectations of all children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
