Maternity Flow and Capacity Co-ordinator

Are you a dynamic and experienced midwife looking to take the lead in ensuring safe and effective maternity care?

We are seeking a highly motivatedMaternity Flow and Capacity Midwife to join our team in a shift-based role that is central to maintaining operational flow and patient safety across the Trust. In this leadership position, you will play a vital role in coordinating the Trust's activity on a shift-to-shift basis, focusing on both acute and elective maternity admissions. Your responsibilities will include ensuring efficient service user flow, optimising bed utilisation through the coordination of admissions, transfers, and discharges, and acting as a senior midwifery lead during out-of-hours periods.You will provide clinical operational support to all on-site staff, responding to security and clinical incidents, escalating concerns to appropriate on-call personnel as needed.

We are looking for a Registered Midwife with strong leadership skills, and a sound understanding of clinical coordination and bed management. Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered midwife - degree
* All around midwifery experience


Knowledge

* Recent and extensive experience in maternity, to include shift leading/managing staff
* Evidence of recent CPD


Analytical and Judgement skills

* Able to make autonomous operational decisions concerning patient activity, bed management, patient acuity, staff management and site management
* Able to balance competing priorities, delegating and escalating when appropriate.
* Able to act as senior midwife leader during 'out-of-hours' periods to midwives working in all areas, and provide line-management support to all other staff groups present


Specialist Knowledge and Personal skills

* Effective time management and demonstrates leadership qualities.
* Ability to triage need for medical assistance, and prioritise the deployment of midwifery and Junior Medical Staff
* Able to undertake project/service improvement work
* To provide pastoral support to staff when required and support staff through listening to their needs and facilitating solutions
* Able to manage emotive situations, including difficult conversations with patients, families and staff
* Able to respond calmly to clinical or site emergencies, including major incidents
* Able to work within a system that provides a 24 hour 7 day a week service.
* Able to use Microsoft Outlook, Intranet and Internet based packages
