Are you a highly experienced Hardware Engineer interested in delivering high-performance digital hardware for our self-protection systems, installed on fast jet, UAV, land, and naval platforms?
We are recruiting Electronics Hardware Engineers to join various teams within the EW sector, supporting our next-generation electronic platforms.
You will experience the full engineering lifecycle at Leonardo, assisting with requirements and architecture definition, designing novel PCB electronics, and working with the project team to support integration and qualification of products.
There are multiple roles within this team, across various sites and levels. Leonardo's seniority levels include Senior, Principal, Lead, and Chief.
What you’ll do as a Lead Electronics Hardware Engineer
* Support the full hardware lifecycle from requirements analysis, design, and testing, to system integration, acceptance testing, and delivery.
* Document and record work products, manage configuration, and provide progress reports.
* Support hardware, firmware, and software integration within projects.
* Assist in product qualification activities and trials.
* Design high-speed digital PCBs utilizing FPGA, Microprocessor, and high-speed interconnect technologies.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to solve system integration problems.
* Be an expert in your field, generating ideas, concept designs, and products following best practices.
* Share knowledge and mentor others.
Essential qualifications and experience
* HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Physics, or related fields, or equivalent experience.
* Familiarity with circuit design, schematic capture, layout, and simulation tools.
* Knowledge of mixed signals, ADC/DAC, FPGA, and SoC-based high-performance signal processing, communication, and control.
* Experience integrating in-house designs with COTS modules.
* Practical debugging, testing, and verification skills.
* Design for EMC and EMI (DFx).
* Understanding system-level requirements and hardware design application.
* Designing high-speed serial communication links and protocols.
* Hands-on experience with hardware, firmware, and software integration of microprocessor-based designs.
* Structured approach to hardware design lifecycle.
* Ability to liaise with suppliers and communicate effectively across disciplines.
* Ability to work independently or in teams, managing time and project deadlines.
Desirable additional skills
* Experience in low-noise analog electronics or power supplies.
* Experience with fast interfaces like PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204.
* Knowledge of model-driven engineering using MATLAB and Simulink.
* Experience with FPGA, microprocessors, memory, and digital technologies, with a desire to learn more.
