We are currently seeking to recruit a zero hour Dispenser to join our dispensing team, working across both our Winterton and Burton Upon Stather sites. This role is intended to provide cover for staff holidays and sickness absence.
The suitable candidate will ideally be qualified to NVQLevel 2 in pharmacy services and have a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensaryexperience.
Flexibility, good team working skills, coupled with theability to work efficiently unsupervised is essential, along with the desire todeliver an outstanding patient experience.
Main duties of the job
Toprovide drug dispensing services to the practices dispensing patients at bothWinterton and BurtonSurgeries.
Process repeat medication requests, preparing prescriptions for patient collection.
Organise collection of prescriptions with patients attending the practice.
Process requests for acute medication prescribed following a clinical consultation.
Organise medication for home delivery in liaison with the practice drug delivery representative.
Deal with patient queries as they arise.
Follow all protocols in place at the practice ensuring a safe, efficient dispensing service is provided.
Work as part of the team providing monitored dossette systems for patients who are eligible.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Toprovide drug dispensing services to the practice’s dispensing patients at bothWinterton and BurtonSurgeries.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1)Receiveand process patients’ requests for authorised repeat prescriptions by computerprintout and telephone answerphone.
2)Recordthe prescription on the patients’ computer record.
3)Dispenseprescriptions generated by GP surgeries and repeat prescription for alldispensing patients.
4)Tomaintain a safe and clean working environment in the dispensary and raising anysignificant events with the dispensary supervisor.
5)To attend dispensary hatch and deal with patientsefficiently when collecting medication.
- Dealwith queries – check computer records, etc.
- Collectprescription charges.
- Ensurepatients sign the FP10.
6)Unpackingthe drug order from wholesalers.
7)Toorder stock and consumables as necessary from wholesalers and specialistsuppliers using websites and telephone.
8)Tomaintain adequate stock control efficiently and process any special ordersnecessary.
9)Dealwith patient prescription queries by telephone or in person from patients andtheir representatives including care home staff, following up where needed.Record any action on patients’ records.
10)Liaisewith doctors with regard to any changes to drug stocks and dispensary practicesand changes in working systems.
11)Toundertake any other duties as necessary at Burton and Winterton surgeries.
12)Attendanceat practice team meetings to maintain communication and keep up to date withany changes.
13)Maintaindispensing CPD by undertaking self-study/attendance at training event inrelation to 3 modules/events each year.
14)Adhereto Standard Operating Procedures in relation to dispensing and other practicepolicies/procedures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* To be qualified to NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services and have a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensary experience.
* To be qualified to NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services and have a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensary experience.
Experience
* Experience working as a dispenser or working within a dispensary environment in another role
* Experience of working in Primary Care
