A growing law firm in Bromley is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their Accounts team.
This is a hands-on role with real visibility across the business, working closely with Heads of Practice and senior leadership in a professional, supportive and friendly environment.
The position would suit someone who enjoys both the technical and operational sides of finance and is confident managing a broad range of responsibilities in a dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
• Produce insightful variance analysis and commentary for the Managing Partner and senior team.
• Take ownership of cash flow management and forecasting.
• Maintain accurate accruals, prepayments and journal postings.
• Manage the firm’s monthly payroll, ensuring full accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements, including PAYE and pension submissions.
• Complete client account reconciliations in line with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs).
• Oversee VAT returns, tax submissions and other statutory filings.
• Support wider finance initiatives and assist with ad hoc tasks as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
• 3–5 years’ experience in management accounting or financial management.
• Proven payroll processing experience with strong compliance awareness.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence producing clear, accurate reports.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-finance colleagues.
• Experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Working knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs).
Desirable:
• Qualified or part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience using legal accounting systems (e.g., Proclaim, Actionstep).
• Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team and balancing varied responsibilities.
