Mount Pleasant Site Manager. Part time - 34 hours per week. Actual Salary: £26,279. 28 days holiday per year pro rata (to be taken in school holidays) plus bank holidays. Required for January 2026. The school site manager is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and secure school premises, which includes buildings and grounds. The role includes carrying out cleaning, handyman activities, routine maintenance and refurbishment, porterage and minor repairs. Promoting Health and Safety around the school. All other aspects of site management, such as supervising external contractors and site use.
Responsibilities
* Maintain the security of the school premises as the main key holder
* Maintain cleanliness and general tidiness of all external hard areas
* Carry out minor repairs
* Report all defects which require specialist repair, inspect electrical fittings and report defects as required
* Carry out daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties
* Move such items of school furniture as required, with due regard to current Health & Safety and Lifting & Handling regulations
* Take delivery of stores materials and other goods
* Complying with instructions received from the Head teacher / Board of Governors concerning letting procedures and carrying out as per lettings agreement
* Ensure a safe working and learning environment in accordance with relevant Health and safety legislation
* Contribute to planning, development and organisation of systems/procedures/policies
* Manage the cleaning team on a daily basis
* Check heating and control system functions, regularly check heating system, with due regard to appropriate safety requirements, report all defects to a qualified heating engineer
* Undertake designated gardening duties
* Clear leaves, snow, ice, moss and detritus as appropriate including treatment of surfaces with salt etc.
* Take responsibility for the maintenance of cleaning tools and products, including arranging replacements and ensuring good stock levels
* Carry out minor repairs to school equipment
* Be committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children and young people
* Comply with the policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality and GDPR and equal opportunities, and report all concerns to an appropriate person
Experience
* Caretaking
* Building maintenance
* Security - including alarm systems
* Cleaning work
* Supervising a small team
* Working with contractors
* Willing and able to start work early when required. Be on call for emergencies and deal with evening and weekend lettings. Must be flexible with regard to working hours
* Competent at basic building repairs, maintenance and grounds maintenance
* Use of small industrial / electrical, mechanical equipment
* Ability to handle / carry heavy items (within Health and Safety manual lifting and handling regulations)
Practical Skills
* Ability to understand and comply with work instructions (written and verbal)
* Able to effectively organise and supervise the work of others (such as cleaners and contractors)
* Reading, writing and numeracy skills to check delivery notes, instructions, lettings forms, emails etc
* Able to operate electrical and mechanical systems
