Role Summary
* Identify and manage risks to the client through site equipment, including updating drawings, identifying critical spares, improving machinery performance, and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
* Use new equipment and technologies to maintain a working production environment, liaising with the client on any requests for machinery PPMs.
* Fault find on all types of machinery.
* Support department members regarding Health and Safety.
* Provide electrical and mechanical expertise to the maintenance department on heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes.
* Write and follow risk assessments and be available to question any arising issues safely and accurately.
* Complete required documentation as specified by all rules and legislation.
* Work on three‑phase systems with voltages up to 440V.
* Work on motors, gearboxes, valves encompassing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
* Use mobile devices to accurately project and complete any work from the CAFM maintenance system.
* Use email and calendars to plan daily work requirements, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
* Liaise with onsite site services to manage building‑services related issues, responding confidently and accurately as required.
* Act as the responsible person when required for the department and deputise the shift leader during annual leave or sickness.
* Work overtime as and when required; this may include nights and weekends with little notice.
* Perform ad‑hoc duties as and when required.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Recognised or time‑served apprenticeship.
* Strong proven experience in manufacturing maintenance.
* Electrical competence/qualifications at a minimum of City & Guilds 236 Pt 1‑2 (Electrical) or equivalent 17th Edition.
* Mechanical competence/qualifications at a City & Guilds standard.
* Good multi‑skilled ability.
* Experience working on 3‑phase motors, drives, and inverters.
* Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
* Ability to fault‑find.
* PLC diagnostics/repair competencies.
* NVQ Qualifications to Level 2 in Electrical and Mechanical.
* Ability to supervise contractors.
* Ability to write risk and method statements.
* Ability to understand and write permits.
Desirable
* Working at Height qualification.
* IPAF certification.
* AP qualifications.
* Experience of heavy engineering.
