Eastside Co is a leading Shopify Plus agency specialising in ecommerce design, development and performance marketing. We work with ambitious brands to help them grow faster and scale their online revenue.
As the agency continues to expand its performance offering, SEO is an already key, but increasingly evolving part of how we deliver growth for clients. We are looking for an SEO Director / Head of SEO to take ownership of this channel and push it forward.
The Role
This is a senior role with real influence across the business. You will shape how SEO/GEO is delivered at Eastside Co, while still being close enough to the work to ensure quality and results.
You will lead a growing team, work closely with other departments, and play a key role in client relationships. The focus is on delivering meaningful commercial impact, not just rankings or traffic.
This role would suit someone who enjoys building and improving things, not just maintaining what already exists.
This role is based in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
SEO Strategy and Client Leadership
* Own SEO/GEO/AEO strategy across a portfolio of ecommerce clients
* Build clear, actionable, commercially focused and forward-looking SEO roadmaps aligned to client goals
* Act as a senior point of contact for key clients
* Ensure SEO activity is demonstrably relatable to measurable performance outcomes such as revenue and growth
Delivery and Quality
* Stay involved in delivery where needed, particularly on complex or high-value accounts
* Oversee technical SEO, content strategy and link acquisition activity
* Ensure best practice across Shopify sites, including migrations and structural changes
* Oversee platform migrations from other technologies to Shopify, safeguarding organic visibility
* Produce clear, insight-driven monthly reports that demonstrate progress and value
* Maintain and ensure a consistently high standard of output across all work and the work of direct reports
Team Leadership
* Lead and develop the SEO team
* Support hiring as the function grows
* Set clear expectations and create a strong performance culture
* Help individuals progress and improve their skills
Proposition Development
* Evolve the SEO proposition for Eastside in line with market developments (particularly focused around evolving role of AI (GEO/AEO) as a channel)
* Define how SEO should be delivered for modern ecommerce brands
* Develop and implement, as well as follow processes, frameworks and ways of working
* Identify opportunities to continue to improve integration SEO with other channels such as paid media and CRO
* Keep the agency up to date with changes in search and ecommerce
Commercial Contribution
* Support new business pitches and proposals
* Actively identify opportunities to grow existing accounts
* Contribute to revenue growth through strong performance and client relationships
* Help evolve the positioning of SEO as a core part of the agency’s offer
What We’re Looking For
Experience
* Strong background in SEO, ideally within an agency or ecommerce environment (5+ years experience)
* Proven experience delivering organic growth for ecommerce brands
* Solid technical SEO knowledge including crawling, indexing and site structure
* Demonstrable success of delivering SEO work through automation, processes and technology adoption/development
* Good understanding of content strategy and authority building
* Experience working with Shopify is a strong advantage

Tools and Skills
* Experience with GA4, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush and Screaming Frog
* Working knowledge of HTML
* Able to explain SEO clearly to non-specialists
* Familiarity and experience with Shopify preferable
