Assistant People Partner, 6 Month FTC

Smart, switched-on and super organised HR assistant looking for a hands‑on role where you can really keep things moving?
We are supporting our customer to recruit an Assistant People Partner who will become the day‑to‑day backbone of a small, friendly and fast‑paced People team.
If you have solid HR experience, enjoy structure and process, and are confident working with systems, this role offers the chance to make an immediate impact. Experience with BambooHR would be a real advantage.
This role plays a key part in keeping daily activity running smoothly so the wider People team can focus on broader organisational work. You will be the calm, capable first point of contact for queries, keep the shared inbox under control and ensure recruitment, onboarding, data and documentation stay on track.
What you will be doing
* Acting as the first point of contact for HR queries through email, Teams and in person
* Managing a busy shared HR inbox, prioritising and responding promptly
* Updating and maintaining HR data and workflows, including absence and recruitment stages
* Supporting end‑to‑end recruitment admin, including adverts, interview coordination, checks and contracts
* Preparing HR documentation and maintaining accurate employee records
* Coordinating onboarding and HR induction activities
* Pulling reports from BambooHR and supporting scheduled people reporting
* Providing consistent, practical guidance to managers on straightforward HR processes
* Supporting wellbeing, engagement and internal people events
* Keeping the team organised, informed and ahead of deadlines

What you will bring
* Solid HR experience with confidence in HR processes and administration
* Strong systems skills, with BambooHR experience highly desirable
* Ability to work autonomously in day‑to‑day tasks while knowing when to ask for support
* Calm, steady presence with good judgement in handling first‑line queries
* Warm, approachable communication style and strong relationship‑building skills
* Resilience and maturity, with the confidence to handle sensitive conversations
* A proactive mindset and willingness to learn, try things out and improve
