Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking volunteers to serve as Associate Hospital Managers (AHMs). AHMs review detained patients and Community Treatment Orders under the Mental Health Act 1983, evaluating evidence against statutory criteria to determine whether to discharge or continue detention.
Responsibilities
* Hear patients’ appeals against detention when requested by the patient.
* Review the detention of patients within the appropriate timeframe for the relevant section of the Act.
* Consider Renewal of Authority notices.
* Attend Associate Hospital Managers Committee meetings and other required meetings.
* Participate in training sessions as deemed appropriate to the role.
Compensation
Associate Hospital Managers are reimbursed a sessional fee of £50 for each review undertaken.
