Residential Support worker/Bank residential support worker Starting from £31,000 per annum | Preston, Lancashire | 2 Days On / 4 Days Off Are you ready to make a real difference in a child's life — every single day? Springboard Care Services is growing fast across Preston and the North West, and we're looking for warm, resilient, and committed Residential Support Workers to join our homes. This is more than a job. It's a career with genuine purpose — and with real opportunities to progress as we expand. About Springboard Care Services We are a dedicated and rapidly expanding provider of exceptional residential care and support to children and young people across Preston and the wider North West. Our mission is simple: to create safe, nurturing homes where young people can thrive — reaching their full potential through personalised care, education, and emotional support. Our leadership team brings decades of combined experience from the care and education sectors. We've built Springboard on a foundation of quality, compassion, and ambition — and as we open new homes and expand our services, we are actively building the next generation of care professionals from within. If you want to work somewhere your contribution is visible, your wellbeing matters, and your career can genuinely grow — this is where you belong. As a Residential Support Worker, you will be at the heart of everything we do. You'll work directly alongside the children and young people in our care, providing consistent, compassionate support that helps them feel safe, valued, and understood. You'll be part of a close-knit team, working under the guidance of experienced Team Leaders and managers who are invested in your development. No two days are the same — and every day you show up, you make a difference. What You'll Be Doing Care & Day-to-Day Support Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people in a residential setting. Build positive, trusting, and consistent relationships that give young people stability and confidence. Act as a positive role model in all aspects of daily life. Support the development of independence and essential life skills. Assist with meals, household tasks, and personal care where required. Encourage and support participation in education, activities, and community life. Attend appointments, outings, and activities alongside the young people in your care. Safeguarding & Child Protection Safeguard and promote the welfare of every young person in your care at all times. Follow Springboard's safeguarding and child protection procedures rigorously. Report any concerns immediately and appropriately to your line manager. Maintain professional boundaries at all times. Behaviour & Emotional Support Support children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs with patience and skill. Implement individual care plans and behaviour support plans consistently. Manage challenging behaviour safely and calmly, using de-escalation techniques. Complete incident reports and daily logs accurately and on time. Teamwork & Professional Development Participate in shift handovers, team meetings, and supervision sessions. Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals. Attend all mandatory training and actively engage in your own development. Contribute to care planning reviews and the ongoing assessment of each young person's needs. What We're Looking For You don't need to have all the answers — you just need the right values. We're looking for people who genuinely care about young people, who can stay calm when things get difficult, and who want to build a career in residential childcare with a company that will invest in them. Essential Experience working with children, young people, or in a care or support setting. A clear understanding of safeguarding principles and why they matter. Strong communication skills and the ability to build genuine rapport. Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure — you bring stability to others. Flexible and committed to working a shift pattern of 2 days on and 4 days off. Full UK driving licence (preferred). Desirable Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare — or a willingness to work towards it (we'll fully support you). Knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015. Experience supporting children with trauma, SEMH needs, or challenging behaviour. Physical Intervention & De-escalation Training Your safety and the safety of the young people in our care is our highest priority. Full, accredited training in physical intervention and de-escalation techniques is provided to all Residential Support Workers — you do not need to arrive with this qualification. We will train you thoroughly from day one, with regular refresher sessions throughout your career with us. Our approach always prioritises de-escalation first, and you will never be expected to manage a difficult situation alone. You'll be equipped, supported, and confident. What We Offer A package built to support and reward the people who make it all happen: Starting salary of £31,000 per annum, rising with experience and progression Genuine career progression — from Support Worker to Senior, Team Leader, and beyond Full funding and support towards your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare Fully funded and accredited physical intervention & de-escalation training Excellent work-life balance: 2 days on, 4 days off shift pattern Referral bonus programme Company pension scheme A supportive, collaborative team where your wellbeing genuinely matters A real voice in the home — we value ideas from every member of the team Your Career at Springboard Springboard is growing — and we promote from within.
