Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our friendly and supportive team in a district general hospital on the edge of the Lake District. The post would ideally be suited to a newly or recently qualified dietitian wishing to expand their dietetic skills and knowledge, and will also consider students expecting to graduate in the near future.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will work as part of a team, with the support of experienced dietitians. The post covers a range of inpatient work including medical, surgical, orthopaedic, oncology and stroke management, as well as outpatient clinics. You will gain experience in a wide range of clinical areas such as nutrition support, enteral feeding, gastroenterology and weight management, and opportunities to gain experience in dietetic specialist areas will be supported where appropriate.
Training and Development
The department is approved for training both ‘2’ and ‘3’ placement dietetic students. We have excellent IT facilities and are committed to personal development and training.
Qualifications
Applicants should be HCPC registered dietitians. The post will be based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, but may require travel to other sites within the Trust.
Locations
We operate from three main hospitals: Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) in Lancaster, Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital, GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
RLI and FGH offer full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and a variety of consultant‑led services.
WGH provides a range of general hospital services together with an Urgent Treatment Centre that can help with non‑life‑threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day‑case and inpatient surgery, supplemented by local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our adult community services are delivered in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals, aiming to help patients remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high‑quality care, advice and support.
