Overview
We are the Environment Agency. This role supports the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors, a vital part of delivering projects and maximising value for money. The role also contributes to setting up and managing Pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long-term collaborative partnership arrangements that deliver for the organisation and society.
Join the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team, which provides country-wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, championing effective governance and commercial assurance.
You will be integrated with our national team and will support local delivery hub leadership to ensure sustainable outcomes on delivery programmes.
Responsibilities
* Support the team overseeing commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long-term collaborative partnerships.
* Contribute to governance and commercial assurance to achieve best value for money.
* Build and maintain internal and external relationships as an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high performing team.
* Undertake training and participate in incident response duties as required.
* Work with the CAFM team to support Programme and Contract Management Services for sustainable delivery and risk management.
Team and Environment
* You will be part of the Commercial and Framework Management (CAFM) team within Portfolio Management, Assurance & Commercial (PMAC).
* You will work with national and local delivery hubs to deliver sustainable outcomes and excellent commercial risk management.
Experience / Skills Required
* A-Level Qualifications, Level 3 Qualifications or equivalent (essential).
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing abilities.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen: ability to understand and analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and deliver value for money; curiosity and drive to achieve value for money.
* Administration skills: strong organisation, ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to shadow, undertake long-term professional qualifications (e.g., NEC training, CIPS) and ask questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desirable Education / Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Working towards status with a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS, or RICS).
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
