Overview is seeking a talented Applications Software Engineer to join our innovative software engineering team. In this key role, you will be instrumental in developing user interface software that brings to life the advanced capabilities of our precision positioning systems and next-generation video and sensor platforms, including AI Edge processing. Your work will directly contribute to creating market-leading, software-based solutions that enhance usability and differentiate our products in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
* Full life cycle development and implementation of user interface and application software.
* Implementation of exciting UI concepts to enhance the Overview product offering.
* Full life cycle development and implementation of advanced video processing platforms used within Overview’s portfolio of system solutions.
* Work with the wider team to integrate and test UI with the rest of the system.
* Definition of interfaces and integration with third-party subsystems.
Skills and Qualifications
* Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
* Previous experience in a software engineering role or similar.
* Experience developing web applications for mobile and desktops.
* Good working knowledge of Java, JavaScript, Python and Linux.
* Experience of working within a structured configuration control system and release process.
* Experience in Agile working practices.
* Excellent communications skills and fluency in English – both spoken and written, and experience of working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Preferred :
* Experience of application and user interface development using modern frameworks e.g. Angular, React.
* Experience of node.js, webRTC and HLS.
* Experience across the full software development lifecycle would be beneficial.
* Experience in designing secure web solutions.
* Knowledge of video stream processing.
* An understanding of or interest in Sensor and/or video processing systems, AI-based video analytics and communications protocols.

Overview, a rapidly growing UK SME, develops and manufactures market-leading Autonomous Sensors Systems and Integrated Servo Drives for global markets.
Overview’s Intelligent Autonomous Sensors Systems (Pods) use multiple sensors and sophisticated edge intelligence to autonomously provide users with actionable digital information. Pods can autonomously detect, classify, alert users and track targets of interest, all at machine speed. The Process
Most of our interviews will take place over one or two stages, typically a phone/teams interview followed by a face-to-face interview on-site. We do ask all candidates who are coming to a face-to-face interview to carry out a short Psychometric assessment to help us understand how you tick!
