Are you an Emergency Clinical Practitioner/ Allied Health Practitioner looking for further career development in an exciting Emergency Village?

If so we are looking for you.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced clinical practitioner (nurse or AHP) to join our team at Leigh Urgent Treatment Centre

The service operational hours are 7.00am- 9:15pm. The service operate 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

You will be offered regular training and supervision provided by our ANPs and will be expected to cascade informal teaching within the unit. Senior clinicians are actively encouraged to offer suggestions and ideas for innovative and creative pathways to drive the service forward.

This vacancy is open to internal and external candidates. NHS employees should secure their manager's agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis to provide cover an for employee on secondment and will end Mar-26 or when the substantive postholder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an fixed term basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.


Main duties of the job

You will join an established, friendly team of practitioners and will be positive, creative thinking individuals who are motivated, influential, and have the ability to work under pressure.

As a registered practitioner you must- be able to demonstrate significant clinical experience preferably within A&E, Walk in Centre or Primary Care. You need to be highly motivated & prepared to continue to develop your clinical skills.

The role will involve the assessment, diagnosis and management of a diverse caseload of minor injury and minor illness. You will be expected to request and interpret a range of investigations and have the ability to recognise and respond to urgent and emergency situations quickly.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead the team and offer clinical supervision and advice to developing clinicians as well as liaise with other teams within WWL.

Key results from the job holder

* Ensure the efficient use of resources by implementing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of care provision using evidence based practice within the Practitioner Role.
* Provide clinical and managerial expertise and act as a resource for all disciplines of staff and service users.
* To act as a role model in providing leadership and support to staff in conjunction with the Head of Nursing and Matron to implement the recommendations of the nursing strategy.
* Lead and manage the establishment and future development of the service in collaboration with the Matron.
* Responsible for the delivery of a high quality service, ensuring that clinical care is organised to meet the needs of the individual whilst ensuring patient safety.
* Provide and deliver specialist care to patients with minor injuries/illnesses.
* Make autonomous clinical decisions and carry responsibility for them, including discharge or referral of patients to appropriate services.
* Act as a leader, motivating staff.
* Develop and deliver teaching programmes, undertaking relevant training, assess competence, provide clinical supervision and support in the clinical environment.

Knowledge

* Demonstrates specialist knowledge
* Evidence of up to date Emergency care / Primary care / minor injuries issues
* Evidence of ongoing professional development.


Skills

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proven leadership / organisational skills
* Sound clinical skills.
* Ability to work autonomously without supervision
* Ability to stream patients/triage
* Ability to assess, diagnose and treat a range of minor injury / illness


Experience

* Experience at Band 6 within A&E/Primary care/WIC or a relevant acute care setting
* Experience of teaching/assessing/supervising in a clinical setting
* Evidence of change management in clinical practice
* Involvement in auditing standards of care on the unit
* Evidence of involvement in research.


Qualifications

* RGN/AHP
* Evidence of or working towards Nurse Practitioner Degree or Hold relevant practitioner certificate equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Non-medical prescribing
* Accredited teaching / assessing certificate.
* Accredited clinical skills course.
