AW Surgeries is looking to appoint a friendly andwell-organised afternoon/evening receptions to join our team to work 30 hrs perweek. This important role supports the daily running of the practice bygreeting patients, managing appointments and to provide an efficient andfriendly service to patients attending the practice for their appointments orwhen accessing medical requirements like blood labels or fit notes. Offering support and direction to patients ina courteous and friendly manor and making sure that communication betweenpatients, members of the Primary Health care team is efficient and effective.

The successful candidate will be confident in working in afast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, confident using ITsystems, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and be committed todelivering high-quality patient care. Confidentiality, professionalism, and excellentcustomer service are essential, as the role plays a key part in ensuring thesmooth and efficient running of the practice reception. Previous administrativeor receptionist experience, particularly within a healthcare setting, isdesirable.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to undertake a variety of reception andadmin duties to assist in the smooth running and operation of the practice,including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other membersof the practice team, whilst projecting a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors either face to face or via the telephones.
Main Duties of thejob:
Ensure an efficient and effective receptionservice is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Handling enquiries from patients both in personand over the phone, ensuring messages are passed on accurately and promptly
Deal with all general enquiries, explainprocedures and support patients when needed.
Providing clerical assistance to the practice asand when required photocopying and scanning.
Keep the waiting room and reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
Updating notice boards ready for next daysappointments
Topping up medical supplies in clinical roomsready for next days appointments.
Processing and distributing incoming andoutgoing mail.
Managing and processing repeat prescriptionrequests.
Managing and processing fit note requests.
Provide administration support to Admin team.
Providing cover and support colleagues whenrequired to maintain service levels.
Working in accordance with practice protocols,safeguarding principles and confidentiality policies.

AW Surgeries have two surgeries basedin Brierley Hill at Albion Street and Withymoor, Squires Court. We have apractice size of 17,000 patients. Ourteam consists of 7 GP partners, 1 salaried GP, 2 ANPs, 4 Nurses, 1 HCAs and 25 highly qualified and experienced Admin staff. As part of our Primary care network we alsohave working alongside us, Listening and Guidance, Podiatrist, Midwife andpharmacists.
We are a Teaching General Practiceworking with the University of Birmingham to train medical students from allclinical disciplines. We work closelywith our 6 neighbouring practices as part of the Brierley Hill and AmblecotePrimary Care Network.

Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience in a receptionist, administrative or customer facing role.
* Experience using IT systems confidently, including email, Microsoft office and data entry
* Experienced in handling enquiries both by telephone and face to face.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
* Experience of working in a GP surgery, NHS or healthcare setting
* Experience using EMIS, Docman, footfall
* Experience processing prescriptions and medical correspondence
Qualifications
* Good standard of general Education GCSE English and maths
* Ability to demonstrate accurate written and verbal communication
