The Role: Mechanical / HVAC Project Manager
You will take full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and commercial success of mechanical projects across retail and commercial sites. The role combines on-site leadership with client communication, cost control, and programme management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical projects (HVAC, plumbing, ductwork, pumps) from design stage through to completion
* Attend site surveys, define project scope and deliverables, and plan resource allocation
* Coordinate subcontractors and internal teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery
* Manage multiple fast-track retail and commercial projects simultaneously
* Review drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
* Provide mechanical engineering input during design and pre-construction phases
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and statutory requirements
Cost & Commercial Management
* Develop project budgets and manage financial performance throughout delivery
* Produce CVRs, track variations, and ensure accurate forecasting
* Support value engineering initiatives without compromising quality
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
* Act as main point of contact for clients, project teams, and operational stakeholders
* Attend progress meetings and provide clear updates on programme and cost
* Ensure a positive client experience and build long-term relationships
Required Experience:
* 5+ years in Mechanical / HVAC project management
* Strong exposure to retail or commercial projects
* Background in building services or M&E contracting
* Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing, ductwork, and mechanical plant
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Commercially strong with experience producing CVRs, managing budgets, and controlling variations
* Excellent stakeholder, client-facing, and communication skills
Qualifications & Certs:
* Mechanical Engineering / Building Services background
* SMSTS (strongly preferred)
* CSCS card
* First Aid / Asbestos Awareness advantageous
