Hours
* 4 PM to 2:30 AM Monday to Thursday, 4 PM to 1:30 AM Friday.
Compensation
* 4 PM to 8 PM @ £27.50 per hour
* 8 PM to 2:30 AM / 1:30 AM @ £33 per hour
Job Overview
The quality inspector shall travel to various supplier facilities to perform visual and dimensional inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies. Parts will be inspected against engineering drawings, customer purchase orders, industry standards, and specifications. The inspector will report inspection accept/reject information directly to the customer via a web application.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Practical experience performing in-process and final inspections on complex machined parts, assemblies, and/or sub-assemblies.
* Inspections performed to engineering requirements specified per ANSI Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) or an equivalent standard.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and Purchase Orders (POs).
* Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other mechanical inspection tools.
* Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAIs) per AS9102 standard.
* Minimum five years of experience in aerospace or military/defense manufacturing, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Computer savvy and ownership of a laptop. Will work as an independent contractor under a 1099 arrangement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Operation of optical measurement equipment (OGP and 3D scanner).
* Carry out first-off inspection manual, receipt inspection, and calibration activities as required.
* Support the internal non-conformance process by raising rejects and ensuring containment is captured.
* Comply with all company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
* Control inspection priorities within the inspection cell.
* Read and understand the requirements on the job card for the operation to be carried out.
* Ensure required documentation is available at the point of use and at the correct revision.
* Read and understand all manufacturing instructions prior to commencing an operation, including machine and tooling set‑up packs, engineering drawings, data cards, inspection plans, etc.
* Use measuring equipment as defined within inspection plans to check conformance to requirements.
* Carry out in‑process inspection in accordance with relevant inspection plans to ensure components conform before passing to subsequent operations.
* Identify and communicate non‑conforming components during in‑process inspection according to the non-conformance procedure.
* Complete all work booking requirements within the MRP system to ensure accurate WIP records.
* Follow work‑handling and storage instructions to prevent damage to components.
* Maintain tidy, clean work areas in accordance with 5S requirements.
* Comply with all company procedures and policies.
