Our client is an award-winning defendant firm who are recruiting for their Healthcare team in Birmingham. They are looking for a NQ-4 PQE solicitor with previous NHS Resolution experience to join on a hybrid basis. The firm may consider strong defendant EL/PL solicitors.
Your new role
This Healthcare Solicitor role will see you:
1. Manage a caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims from inception to resolution.
2. Advise NHS Resolution, NHS Trusts and medical malpractice insurers on clinical negligence and EL/PL claims.
3. Provide clear, strategic legal advice on liability, quantum, and procedural aspects of claims.
4. Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.
5. Liaise effectively with NHS Resolution, healthcare professionals, and expert witnesses to progress cases.
6. Prepare case strategies, including risk assessments and cost management plans, aligned with NHS Resolution protocols.
7. Ensurepliance with Civil Procedure Rules and relevant pre-action protocols throughout litigation.
8. Attend court hearings, mediations, and settlement meetings, undertaking advocacy where appropriate.
9. Maintain accurate file management and billing records in line with firm and client requirements.
10. Collaborate with senior solicitors and partners onplex or high-value claims, including group litigation matters.
11. Advise on regulatory and risk issues affecting healthcare providers where relevant.
What you'll need to succeed
12. You must be a qualified solicitor with 0–4 years PQE.
13. Previous experience of NHS Resolution work.
14. Previous experience handling your own defendant clinical negligence is beneficial.
15. Previous defendant EL/PL experience is desired.
16. Excellentmunication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
17. Strong academics.

Hybrid working is available with an expectation of 2 days in the office per week. A salary of up to £56,000 is available dependent on experience.
