We are currently recruiting for an Asset Controller to take overall responsibility for stock management within our workshops. This is a vital operational role, ensuring that the right equipment is available, in the right condition, at the right time. You will play a key part in maintaining equipment accuracy, keeping customer promises, and supporting smooth daily depot operations.
About the Role What You Will Be Doing As an Asset Controller, you will maintain full oversight of all workshop stock, ensuring equipment is maintained, tracked, and moved efficiently. Your work is central to delivering a seamless customer experience.
Key Responsibilities Manage and track all asset movements within the depot, workshop, and storage areas.
Maintain accurate stock records across internal systems, ensuring data integrity at all times.
Coordinate equipment availability for upcoming hires, internal transfers, workshop repairs, and testing schedules.
Ensure equipment is serviced, certified, and fit for hire, liaising closely with engineers and workshop teams.
Monitor asset utilisation, identifying shortages, surpluses, or potential fleet improvement opportunities.
Support workshop efficiency by ensuring correct parts, accessories and consumables are stocked and ordered.
Assist in planning equipment logistics, including transfers between depots to meet customer demand.
Conduct regular stock checks and audits, investigating discrepancies and delivering accurate reporting to management.
Work collaboratively with hire teams, ensuring customers receive the right kit, at the right place, at the right time.
Champion safe working practices, keeping stock areas compliant, organised, and hazard-free.
Support the delivery of Speedys ESG Strategy Decade to Deliver, embedding sustainability, waste reduction, and responsible asset use.
What You Need Previous stock management experience, ideally within the hire industry or a technical/engineering environment
Strong organisational and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data accuracy
Technical understanding of hire equipment (advantageous but not essential)
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced depot environment
Comfortable collaborating with multiple teams including engineering, transport and hire desks
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and stock systems
Ability to support your team in delivering our ESG Strategy Decade to Deliver
