Overview

We are recruiting a fixed-term role, up to 2 years, for someone with experience of working in or regulating energy sectors including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries. The UK strategy to deliver Net Zero is driving transformation in the energy sectors as they decarbonise and expand electricity production. Through effective regulation, we aim to protect people and the environment from emissions and to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts.
Responding to incidents is a central part of the work. You will be asked to have an incident role and to be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance, and training
* Develop strategy for our sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes
* Commission and manage external research projects where needed
* Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players
* Respond to incidents as required and support business continuity
Experience / Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity in their work
* Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, and experience of the work area for the role, gained through working within or regulating relevant processes; knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant
* Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia
* Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals
