About the role

The University of Lancashire School of Dentistry requires a Dental Nurse to join our onsite clinic-based team. This role requires a suitably qualified, GDC registered dental nurse to work flexibly providing nursing across our clinical teaching activities, patient based regulated activities, supporting external epidemiology studies and oral health promotion.

Nurse roles within clinic provide chairside set up and support for the teaching programs including implantology, periodontology, endodontology, oral surgery and prosthodontics. Tasks include and are not limited to supporting a range of onsite clinicians—including Consultants, Dentists, Therapists, Hygienists, and visiting academics or students—by preparing clinical areas, ensuring effective cross-infection control, and sterilizing instruments. You’ll also provide pre- and postoperative advice to patients undergoing dental procedures, while maintaining compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and mandatory training updates.

The hours for this role are typically 8:30 am – 6:30 pm over three days rota pro rata.


Responsibilities

* Provide chairside set up and support for teaching programs including implantology, periodontology, endodontology, oral surgery and prosthodontics.
* Support onsite clinicians—including Consultants, Dentists, Therapists, Hygienists, and visiting academics or students—by preparing clinical areas, ensuring effective cross-infection control, and sterilizing instruments.
* Provide pre- and postoperative advice to patients undergoing dental procedures.
* Maintain compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and mandatory training updates.


About you / Qualifications

* Evidence substantial experience in a busy dental environment.
* Knowledge of dental software, preferably SOE.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Registered with the General Dental Council and have a National Certificate of the Examining Board for Dental Nurses or NVQ level 3.
* The ability to work under pressure, follow instructions as well as the ability to use own initiative is essential.
* Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview.
