Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner Haemophilia Service
22.2 hrs / week (0.6 WTE)

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Haemophilia multidisciplinary team and MSK Physiotherapy Outpatient Department. The role involves providing integrated assessment, diagnosis, analysis, and management of patients with Haemophilia.
The successful applicant will play a key role in leading and developing the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service across NHS Lothian. This includes improving practice, working collaboratively, and implementing and evaluating evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies. The role also involves providing specialist advice to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients, and relatives. It encompasses expert clinical practice, education, and auditing, with opportunities to develop an interest in point of care ultrasound with appropriate training.
This position will actively lead audit and research activities, contributing to the development of the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service and clinical guidance for Scottish Haemophilia Physiotherapy Services.
Outreach work in education and training of non-specialist physiotherapists regarding management of bleeding disorders will be a key component. The post may include supervision responsibilities for Physiotherapy students.
The post involves working flexibly across the Haemophilia MDT at OPD 1 RIE (including a Wednesday morning multidisciplinary clinic and Friday afternoon MDT meeting) and the MSK Physiotherapy Out-Patient Department in OPD 5 RIE. The caseload primarily includes adults with Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, mainly in outpatient settings, with some inpatient work. The post is based at RIE but may require work at other sites.
Candidates should demonstrate a broad range of clinical experience and expert knowledge in Rehabilitation, MSK, Long Term Conditions, or related sub-specialties. Proven ability to prioritize and manage a diverse caseload is essential. Experience in service development and supporting a proactive multidisciplinary team involved in Quality Improvement projects is also required.
As an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist, you will collaborate with other team leads across various organizational and professional topics within RIE.
This role offers extensive clinical experience as a Band 7 physiotherapist, with opportunities for professional development supported through appraisal, supervision, and CPD.
