Senior Design Manager – Data Centre Projects - Newcastle | Hybrid Working
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a leading international MEP engineering consultancy delivering major data centre and mission critical projects across the UK and Europe.
This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex, high-value developments within a fast-growing sector, supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for global clients.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading multidisciplinary design activities, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
* Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across major data centre projects
* Manage the design delivery process from concept through to project completion
* Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams
* Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, quality, and technical requirements
* Maintain strong client-facing relationships and stakeholder engagement
* Monitor design progress and identify technical risks and coordination issues
* Chair design coordination and project meetings
* Ensure compliance with project procedures, QA standards, and industry regulations
* Collaborate closely with project delivery and commercial teams
* Support technical problem solving and design development activities
* Mentor and support junior team members
* Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the business
Requirements
* Degree qualified within Engineering, Building Services, Construction, or a related discipline
* Strong experience within an MEP consultancy, engineering consultancy, or mission critical environment
* Previous experience delivering data centre or complex infrastructure projects
* Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on large-scale developments
* Strong understanding of project delivery, design coordination, and commercial management
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced project environments
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and project coordination software
* Strong organisational and technical management capabilities
Desirable Experience
* Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation
* Experience working on large-scale or international mission critical projects
* Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering coordination tools
