* Working Hours: 35 Hours per week

* Additional Payments: Essential car user allowance

* Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England
* Medical Clearance – Pre-placement health assessment (PPHA)
* Essential Car Documentation – Must hold a full valid driving licence and provide own car; receive allowance
* DBS clearance – Enhanced DBS check required; confidentiality policy in place
* Completed ASYE


Complex Safeguarding Overview

Are you interested in working with children experiencing or vulnerable to exploitation in our Complex Safeguarding Team? The recent “Outstanding” Ofsted Inspection recognised the work completed in Complex Safeguarding as “Exemplary”. Join our multi‑agency Complex Safeguarding Hub to safeguard and work with young people at risk of exploitation across Manchester. You will carry out assessments, deliver interventions, and collaborate with police, health, and partners to reduce harm and raise aspirations.


Responsibilities

* Support locality social work teams in accessing, supporting, and disrupting exploitative abuse and supporting children and families with recovery.
* Consult with partner agencies about children with indicators of exploitative abuse and / or serious violence; log consultations in Liquid Logic system to support planning.
* Attend strategy meetings and produce concise reports for schools and Children’s Services.
* Support Police operations to tackle exploitation, including outreach in Manchester City Centre.
* Work directly with children at risk of or experiencing exploitative abuse or serious violence; use creative planning and varied resources.
* Champion trauma‑informed, relationship‑based practice and positive language.
* Develop and sustain strong working relationships with partners across the city, including voluntary sector.
* Demonstrate flexibility and tenacity, building trust with vulnerable children.
* Operate within the Complex Safeguarding Multi‑agency Hub alongside GMP Police Officers, NHS Specialist Nurse, Early Help, MFH Team and the Children’s Society.
* Utilise the Trusted Relationship Model and Clinical Psychologist sessions to unpick trauma and engage children.
* Undertake risk assessments, robust safety planning, and bespoke interventions to disrupt abuse and reduce harm.


Essential Requirements

* Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
* Driving licence and access to a car.
* Previous social work experience and completion of ASYE.
* Experience with assessments, detailed plans, and delivering training/supervision.
* Experience working in a multi‑agency setting with education, health, police, and partners.
* Good IT skills – Microsoft systems and recording systems.
* Ability to undertake direct work with children and families and build trusted relationships.
* Understanding of factors impacting children such as abuse, neglect, and extra‑familial harm.
* Capability to deliver performance management and service improvement.
* Knowledge of the law and the family justice system and ongoing research.


Desirable Requirements

* Experience supporting children and young people at risk of exploitation or serious violence.
* Experience working in education, knowledge of alternative provisions, and understanding of school challenges.
